Summer time, Riesling time!
Time flies. Riesling Weeks is back in town for its fourth running. June sees a month-long celebration of this classic German grape and it kicks off in style with Katharina Fladung, the German Wine Princess 2015-2016, hosting a walk-around event. According to Vinexpo and The Drinks Business, Germany is the eighth largest wine importer in Hong Kong with a sharp increase of 37% in volume from 2010 to 2014, partly thanks to the Riesling Weeks Campaign. Riesling is versatile and can pair exceptionally with Asian cuisines. Riesling Weeks is still young but we have more participating outlets and partners every year. This year, we are very pleased that we have more participating Asian restaurants than western ones, proofing that Riesling is a good match with our food in this part of the world. But don’t overlook other German wines. Germany Pinot Noir is certainly gaining international attention but other varieties like Pinot Gris, Pinot Blanc, Silvaner, Dornfelder, Lemberger, Trollinger… are equally exciting. At this year’s Riesling Weeks, Wines of Germany will showcase these varieties at the kick-off celebration’s workshop and the Cru’s June supplement. Don’t miss them! Kick-off Celebration with the German Wine Princess  German Wine Queens and Princesses are global ambassadors of German wine. Each year, the thirteen Germany wine regions elect their own regional wine queens, who will then compete for the title ‘German Wine Queen’ and ‘German Wine Princess' the following year. We are thrilled to have Katerina Fladung, German Wine Princess from Rheingau, to be with us from 27th May to 5th June.
